Hi All,
It a pique of laziness this morning, I decided to splash rinse with ye olde tapwater. I had been avoiding tapwater for months and had thought to give my sprayer finger a rest. DUMB! Instant flare of facial flushing! Uh, try saying that last bit fast a few times.
Yesterday I read a couple of self-help rosacea books that I'd found on Amazon.com. Neither had any great tips for caring for the skin. One of them told me to use a mild cleanser, blot dry, and wait until face felt completely dry before applying any moisturizer/sunscreen. That is what led to the experiment with tapwater.
Everything I've read about rosacea assumes the person has oily skin. Not ture! This ol' bird has dry skin, and I do mean dry.
One interesting bit of info is that you should eat the protein in your meal first, because it takes longer to digest. Then you should eat all your good veggies, except for the starchy ones like potatoes. Eat the starches last. When dining out, you should ask for the entree fist, then the salad, etc. I haven't tried this. Supposedly, it has to do with stomach acid and the acidity/alkalinity of the foods you eat. I read so much about nutrition and body chemistry that my eyes began to glaze over. I decided that if I followed the nutritional advice for rosacea, diabetes, and diverticulosis, all of which I have, I simply would have to give up all food -- period! Eating stuff for one condition cause problems with another one, etc.
Sometimes, I think I read too much! <g> But I do like to keep up to speed on conditions that I have to deal with on a daily basis. <sigh>
